At Two Rock Valley Presbyterian Church, we believe in the importance of loving our neighbors and serving the local community around us.
Taking action to help feed our neighbors is a primary focus of our local community service. During the season of Lent, we do a food drive to benefit the Redwood Empire Food Bank. In February, we celebrate Super Bowl Sunday as "Souper Bowl Sunday!" - a fun day when our young folks serve a variety of soups to the congregation in exchange for donations to give to a local organization fighting hunger. In November, we work with the neighborhood school to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Once a month, we collect a special offering during the worship service that goes directly to national and local efforts to alleviate hunger.
Pastor Emily founded and runs a literacy program located at our sister church Tomales Presbyterian Church. This program partners with Tomales Elementary, the Shoreline Unified School District, Marin County Free Library, and West Marin Community Services to bring the joy of reading to students from Tomales Elementary. Tomales Scholars is made possible by the volunteer efforts of folks from both Two Rock Valley and Tomales Presbyterian Churches, alongside people from the surrounding communities. If you would like to volunteer as a mentor in this very fun and rewarding program, please email Pastor Emily at pastorstockert@gmail.com.
Throughout the year, we have a variety of ways we serve our local community. Just to name a few...in October, we host a "trunk o'treat" event in our parking lot to offer a safe space for trick-or-treating for kids in the Two Rock area. At Christmas, we coordinate with Two Rock Elementary to provide gifts for students who whose families need a little help during the holidays. In the summer, some of our parishioners helped out with the Coast Guard Vacation Bible School. We are always on the look-out for ways to connect with our neighbors!
