In this reflection on Matthew 16:13–20, we explore Jesus’ journey to Caesarea Philippi, a city defined by Roman imperial power and the worship of Caesar. By examining the often-misunderstood title "the Human One," we uncover Jesus' call to reject the world's patterns of dominance and fear. Instead, we are invited to build communities grounded in restorative justice, radical compassion, and the unwavering dignity of every person. Even in when we feel anxious or small, this sermon reminds us that the way of the Human One endures long after the empires of brute force have crumbled.
